What is a BTEC National Subsidiary Diploma?

This is a two-year course focusing on the exciting field of digital media & computer Systems and is equivalent to a full A2 with the same UCAS points.

The course is designed to be work-related and develop a specific set of practical skills.

What are the entry requirements?

  • An interest in ICT, Digital Media and Computer Systems

What is the course structure?

The course is made up of:

TWO compulsory units

  • Communication and Employability Skills for IT
  • Computer systems

FOUR specialist units

  • Digital Graphics and Computers
  • Website Production and Management
  • Communication Technologies/Computer Animation
  • Developing Computer Games

How is the course assessed?

All units are graded as 'pass', 'merit' or 'distinction'. Assessment is by practical activities, which are assessed by the school and externally moderated by Edexcel.

36-59 (Pass) UCAS points 40
60 - 83 (Merit) UCAS points 80
84 - 108 (Distinction) UCAS points 120
