If you want an opportunity to explore a range of contemporary and classic texts, develop your understanding and enjoyment of Literature, share your ideas and opinions about poetry, novels and plays, then this could be the course for you.
The course consists of 2 units for AS and a further 2 units for A2.
Unit 1: Texts in Context
Unit 2: Creative Study
Unit 3: Reading for meaning
Unit 4: Extended Essay and Shakespear Study
Units are examined by written examination or coursework.
It fits with any course. Some obvious connections are found with English Language, Media Studies, History, Modern Languages, Sociology and Philosophy.
This course will develop your powers of analysis, written expression, discussion and empathy. A Level English Literature is a well-recognised qualification which will help you to gain University entrance or a wide range of Higher Education courses. It would be a useful qualification for careers in Journalism, Publishing, Law, Teaching and Creative Arts.
A love of reading, a sensitive insight, a critical approach and a willingness to argue your opinion during lively discussions. GCSE grade C or above in English is essential.
