Entry RequirementsIn order to progress on to A-level courses, students need five GCSE passes at C or above, however some subjects do specify their own entry grades, so please check the
Course Outline booklet.
How to applyStudents already at Queen Elizabeths:
If you would like to come into the Sixth Form, you should first discuss your potential for further studies with your subject teachers and Mentor.
e.g. what grades are you likely to achieve in your GCSEs? What qualifications do you need to get you into the job/course that you want to do later? If you are not sure what you want to do later, how can you best keep your options open?
You should seek advice as soon as possible in Year 11, so that you have time to fully explore possible courses and careers.
Applications to QE’s Sixth Form need to be made on an Application Form and should be handed in by
Friday 15th February 2013. We will use the application details we receive by this date to decide our timetable blockings. These determine which subject combinations are possible. Late applications will, of course, be accepted but you will have to accept the subject blockings that your more prompt colleagues have made for you! You will then be required to attend an informal group interview, late in the Spring term.
Students from other schools:Your teachers will advise you of the opportunities available to you. If you feel that the Sixth Form programme at Queen Elizabeth’s would meet your needs, please complete the enclosed application form and return it to the Head of Sixth Form as soon as possible. You will be required to attend a short (and very informal) interview, which will take place late in the Spring term.
Every year a number of students, from local schools and from abroad, transfer to Queen Elizabeth’s for Sixth Form studies and enjoy a happy and successful two years with us. We do our best to make ‘new’ students extremely welcome and find that they tend to settle in very quickly.
